Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE

To support workforce development initiatives at our foundry. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing effective training programs that enhance employee performance, promote safety, and support career growth in a heavy manufacturing environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and Deliver Training Programs : Create and facilitate training sessions focused on operational procedures, safety, quality control, technical skills, and leadership development.
  • Onboarding New Employees: Design and oversee comprehensive onboarding processes for new hires, ensuring they are equipped with foundational knowledge of foundry operations, equipment, safety protocols, and company culture.
  • Skills Gap Analysis : Assess current skill levels across departments and collaborate with supervisors to identify areas for improvement and development opportunities.
  • Molder Apprenticeship Program Management: Ensure all members in program and progressing and getting appropriate hours in all areas. Create training documents as needed.
  • Youth Outreach : In collaboration with local high schools, create and oversee youth apprenticeship programs as well as participate in mock interviews and job fairs.
  • Training Materials Management : Develop training manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and multimedia learning tools to support effective knowledge transfer. Audit work instructions for accuracy.
  • Training Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate training records, track employee progress, and generate reports for audits and leadership review.
  • Continuous Improvement: Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and modify them based on feedback and performance outcomes.
  • Collaboration : Work closely with production supervisors, safety managers, quality assurance, and human resources to align training initiatives with business goals.
  • Technology Integration: Utilize learning management systems (LMS) and other digital tools to support modern training delivery methods.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Familiarity with foundry operations, processes, and safety requirements is strongly preferred
  • Fluency in Spanish preferred
  • Knowledge of OSHA and other regulatory compliance standards
  • Strong instructional design and presentation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and LMS platforms
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
  • Must be comfortable working in a foundry environment, including exposure to heat, noise, and heavy machinery
  • Occasional need to wear PPE and participate in shop-floor activities
  • May require standing or walking for extended periods during training sessions

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Resources, Industrial Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of experience in training and development, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting
  • Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) or similar training credential - preferred
  • OSHA 10/30 Certification - preferred
  • CPR/First Aid Instructor Certification (optional)
