About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Field Engineer with experience in telecommunications and data center environments . In this hands-on role, you’ll be responsible for the installation, cabling, maintenance, and support of network and data center infrastructure. This is a key position within our engineering team, supporting a variety of mission-critical deployments and customer projects.
You’ll play an essential role in ensuring that infrastructure work is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards , while also adhering to SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality) guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
Installation & Infrastructure Support
- Install and cable telecommunications and data center equipment.
- Run and terminate power, fibre, and Ethernet cabling to specified positions in racks and panels.
- Install grounding equipment and ensure adherence to grounding standards.
- Clean and inspect fiber connections and ensure proper labeling of equipment and cabling.
Smart Hands & Technical Support
- Provide 24/7 support as part of a scheduled escalation rotation (not on-call based).
- Offer Smart Hands services including:
- Equipment racking/de-racking
- Power cycling and soft reboots of network and server hardware
- Hardware troubleshooting
- Light level testing and connection of test routers
Quality Assurance & Site Management
- Conduct POP (Point of Presence) site housekeeping and post-installation quality inspections.
- Supervise third-party subcontractors working on-site.
- Ensure compliance with safety and operational standards during all activities.
Additional Engineering Services
- Assist with:
- Rack and cage builds
- Structured cabling installs (copper, multimode, and single-mode fibre)
- Cabling according to diagrams and site plans
- Circuit migrations, audits, and testing
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Prior experience in telecom, fiber optic, or data center field engineering.
- Strong hands-on skills with cabling, infrastructure installs, and troubleshooting.
- Comfortable working in a structured and safety-conscious environment.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed.
