Job Description

AHSTW Community School District is currently accepting applications for substitute teaching opportunities for the 2025-2026 school year.

Purpose Statement:

• Our guest teachers follow our AHSTW staff member's plans to provide a continuous learning experience in teh event staff members need to be absent.

Qualifications:

• Iowa Teaching License, or
• Substitute Authorization

Length of Service:

• Positions by nature are daily depending on district need.

Supervisor and Evaluation:

• Under the general supervision of the building principal.

Essential Performance Responsibilities:

• Create a positive learning experience using effective classroom management practices.
• Provide access to learning by implementing our AHSTW Community School District staff member's lesson plans.
• Promote student safety within the assigned classroom.
• Complete attendance, lunch counts, and other management tasks for the day.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
• Ability to organize and coordinate work.
• Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, students and parents.
• Ability to engage in self-evaluation regarding performance and professional growth.

Qualifications Profile:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Iowa Teaching License or Substitute Authorization.

Physical Requirements:

• Physical requirements vary by individual job assignment but requires a minimum of the following physical requirements: Walking, standing, bending, carrying, climbing, lifting minimum of 20 pounds, driving, pushing, pulling, reaching, sitting, and kneeling.
