As a vital member of the Marine Underwriting team, you will focus on securing new business and servicing existing accounts, primarily in Ocean Cargo, while also covering Marine Hull & Liabilities. Your role involves developing customized solutions for complex risks to attract new clients and retain current ones, all in line with our Underwriting guidelines.

In this position, you will contribute significantly to expanding our market share while upholding the highest underwriting standards by reviewing, evaluating, selecting, classifying, pricing, and quoting acceptable risks.

What you’ll be doing

What will your essential responsibilities include?

  • Secure new business and support existing client accounts.
  • Manage complex placements for optimal financial performance.
  • Ensure effective risk selection and adherence to underwriting guidelines.
  • Collaborate across teams to enhance marine service offerings.
  • Execute territorial strategic operating marketing plans.
  • Collaborate across AXA XL product lines to advance the marine unit and identify cross-sell opportunities
  • Assist the marine leadership team as necessary on project work to expand the appetite and product offerings.

You will report to the Underwriting Manager, Cargo.

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree; relevant professional designations a plus.
  • Designations (or progress towards) is preferred including, but not limited to: CPCU, CIC, AU, AAI, CLCS, CRM, and ARM.
  • Ocean Marine insurance underwriting experience, including Ocean Cargo, Hull, and Marine Liabilities.
  • Proven success in driving profitable growth.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Seasoned relationships with brokers and producers with desire to expand network.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant software.
  • Travel of up to 15% of the time is anticipated.

The U.S. base salary range for this position is USD 124,500 - 186,500.

Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual’s skills, experience and location. We strive for market alignment and internal equity with our colleagues’ pay.
