About the Role

Uber Freight connects shippers with transportation providers, much like how Uber connects riders and drivers. We are a team of entrepreneurial individuals who are redefining the movement of things around the world. As we continue to scale our platform globally, we are looking for a strategic, handson Senior Tax Manager to lead and manage all aspects of tax related to Uber Freights operations. The Freight Head of Tax is a high impact role that offers a unique opportunity to lead the tax function for a highgrowth business within the Uber umbrella that also has its own tax reporting requirements, as well as support for the global Uber tax function. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise across multiple tax domains, thrive in fastpaced environments, and enjoy solving complex tax challenges collaboratively.

What the Candidate Will Do

• Own and lead all aspects of Uber Freights global tax function.
• Oversee the quarterly and annual tax provision process in coordination with external service providers and internal finance teams.
• Manage U.S. federal, state, and international tax compliance, including preparation and review of returns, and coordination with external providers.
• Manage indirect tax compliance and filings (e.g., sales & use tax) and advise on the taxability of new products or services.
• Lead tax planning and structuring initiatives to support business expansion, M&A, supply chain optimization, and crossborder operations.
• Support audit readiness and manage responses to IRS, state and local, and foreign tax authority inquiries.
• Collaborate crossfunctionally with Accounting, Treasury, Legal, and Engineering to ensure tax implications are integrated into business decisions.
• Drive process improvements in tax operations, documentation, and reporting systems.
• Manage external service providers and strategize on the longterm balance between external and internal resources.
• Manage transfer pricing and intercompany documentation, including coordination with external providers and internal legal teams.
• Support general ledger accounting team with provision reconciliations and documentation.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive tax experience, including inhouse corporate tax and/or public accounting experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA or equivalent certification, Masters in Taxation or JD/LLM preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in fastpaced, dynamic environments and lead complex crossfunctional initiatives.
• Proven experience managing compliance and advisory projects.
• Strong collaborative mindset with a track record of building effective crossfunctional relationships.
• Strong communication skills to be able to present complex tax conclusions to business leaders.
• Be open to travel between various Uber and Uber Freight office locations.

US based employees may also be eligible for a performance or sales incentive bonus program, participation in Uber Freight equity awards, and other types of compensation depending upon the role.

California: The salary range for this role is $151,620 to $178,920 a year
