• Location: Remote (Ohio License) 
• Duration: 4 Months (Contract to Hire)
• Pay Rate: $27/h

Key Responsibilities:

• Handle all aspects of collections litigation from account review through post-judgment collections.
• Draft, review, and sign legal documents including complaints, pleadings, motions, and judgment entries.
• Conduct legal research and respond to discovery requests.
• Attend court hearings (telephonic and in-person) and conduct pretrial phone conferences.
• Negotiate case resolutions directly with cardholders outside of court when possible.
• Participate in depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trials as needed.
• Ensure compliance with consumer laws and local litigation procedures.
• Document case activity in the company’s matter management system, tracking deadlines and court information.
• Collaborate with attorneys, compliance, and other business units to align strategies and handle consumer-related issues.

Required Qualifications:

• Active Ohio Law License (Required)
• Juris Doctor (JD) Degree
• 5-10 years of relevant legal experience.
• Background in collections litigation (credit card debt, student loans, unpaid credit accounts).
• Law firm experience preferred; in-house counsel from a financial institution is acceptable.

Experience managing high-volume, contested, and high-risk collections matters.
