Job Title: Electrician

Department: Maintenance/Facilities/Construction

Reports To: Electrical Supervisor/Project Manager

Pay: $27 and up based on experience 

Job Summary:

The Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. This role involves interpreting electrical blueprints, troubleshooting electrical malfunctions, and implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Install and maintain electrical systems and equipment, including wiring, fixtures, and control devices.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions.

  • Repair or replace defective electrical parts, components, and wiring.

  • Install new electrical machinery and equipment, ensuring proper connections and functionality.

  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints, technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.

  • Operate electrical testing equipment, such as multimeters, ammeters, and ohmmeters, to identify and resolve electrical issues.

  • Maintain accurate records of electrical installations, repairs, and maintenance activities.

  • Collaborate with other trades and production teams to schedule electrical work and minimize disruptions.

  • Adhere to all safety procedures and regulations, including lockout/tagout procedures, and maintain a clean and safe work environment.

  • Monitor electrical system performance and identify opportunities for improvement in efficiency and reliability.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of electrical maintenance programs and procedures.

  • Respond to emergency electrical requests and perform unscheduled repairs as needed.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience as an Electrician.

  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, components, and wiring.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical documents, including blueprints, schematics, and manuals.

  • Knowledge of various electrical equipment and machinery.

  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

  • Strong attention to detail and a focus on quality workmanship.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects and work in various positions.

Education and Certifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Completion of a certified electrician program or apprenticeship is required.

  • Journeyman electrician license is required.

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA) are a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and/or move heavy objects.

  • Ability to stand, walk, and/or sit for extended periods.

  • Ability to work in various positions, including bending, stooping, and crouching.

  • Ability to work in potentially noisy and hot environments.

  • Must have good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

Working Conditions:

  • Work may be performed in indoor or outdoor settings.

  • Exposure to electrical hazards, machinery, noise, and potential hazards.

  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.

  • May be required to work overtime or weekends as needed.
