D&V Home Design Center is a fast-growing, design-build remodeling and construction firm with a full-service showroom on Jericho Turnpike in East Northport, Long Island. Since 2006 we’ve delivered kitchens, baths and whole-home renovations across Long Island and the five boroughs, pairing expert craftsmen, architects and interior designers under one roof to give clients a seamless “one-stop” experience.

Position summary

Reporting to the President, the Bookkeeper owns the day-to-day accounting cycle for multiple concurrent construction projects and the company’s retail showroom. You’ll keep our ledgers clean, support accurate job-costing and help leadership see financial trends in real time so we can bid, build and bill with confidence.

This is a full-time, Monday-Friday, on-site role in East Northport, NY. Remote or hybrid work is not available.

Core responsibilities

•  Full-cycle bookkeeping – post A/P and A/R, reconcile bank and credit-card accounts, maintain the general ledger, and close each month by the 10th business day.

•  Job costing & WIP tracking – set up new jobs, track budgets vs. actuals, code invoices to cost codes, and prepare work-in-progress (percentage-of-completion) schedules.

•  Progress & milestone billing – create schedule-of-values invoices (AIA-style), manage retainage, generate change-order billings, and follow up on collections.

•  Payroll support – export weekly hours from field time-tracking, check prevailing-wage/DOL requirements when applicable, and post payroll journal entries.

•  Compliance & vendor management – request lien waivers, track insurance certificates and 1099s, file NYS sales-tax returns, and coordinate year-end reviews with the external CPA.

•  Reporting & analysis – prepare P&L, balance sheet, cash-flow forecasts, and job-cost reports for leadership; flag variances and recommend corrective actions.

•  Office support – back-up reception, help maintain digital and paper files, and contribute to continuous-improvement projects in the back office.

Minimum qualifications

• 3+ years of professional bookkeeping experience (construction environment strongly preferred).

•  Fluent, professional English (spoken and written).

• Working knowledge of  GAAP accrual accounting , job-cost principles and progress billing.

• Hands-on expertise with  QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel; ability to learn industry software such as Buildertrend or CoConstruct.

• U.S. work authorization and reliable daily commute to East Northport, NY.

• High school diploma or GED; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business is a plus.

Preferred skills

• Familiarity with AIA G702/G703 forms, NYS sales-tax rules and certified payroll.

• Experience supporting companies with 10-50 employees and annual revenue of $5-20 million.

• Ability to read construction contracts and insurance certificates.

• Sage or Foundation software experience.

Work environment & schedule

• Modern showroom/office; business-casual attire.

• Standard hours: 9 AM – 6 PM, Monday–Friday (aligned with showroom hours).

• Rare evening or weekend work during year-end close or inventory audits.
