We are seeking a knowledgeable, detail-oriented, full-time, in office Bankruptcy Attorney to represent DC33 Members on their rights, options, and obligations under federal bankruptcy laws. The attorney will prepare and file bankruptcy petitions, represent clients in court, and work with creditors, trustees, and courts to resolve financial issues.

Core Responsibilities

 Assess a client's financial situation to determine their eligibility for different types of bankruptcy, such as Chapter 7 or 13. A significant part of the role involves advising clients on their options and ensuring they understand the process.

 Provide legal counsel on the advantages, risks, and consequences of filing for bankruptcy.

  Analyze financial records, contracts, and other documents to assess client eligibility and develop legal strategies.

  Draft, review, and file bankruptcy petitions, schedules, and other court documents.

  Represent clients in various proceedings, including hearings, confirmation hearings, and the mandatory "341 Meeting of Creditors"

  Negotiate with creditors, trustees, and other parties to negotiate settlements or repayment plans.

  Stay current with changes in bankruptcy laws, regulations, and court rulings.

  Maintain accurate legal records, track case progress, and ensure timely filings and compliance.

  Guide clients on post-bankruptcy financial and legal compliance.

Qualifications:

·         Deep knowledge of U.S. Bankruptcy Code and federal court procedures

·         Strong legal research, writing and litigation skills.

·         Proficiency in bankruptcy filing software and court electronic systems (e.g. PACER, CM/ECF)

·         Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.

·         3+ years of experience in bankruptcy law.

·         Licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania
