Closing Date: Until Filled Additional Information: Show/Hide Primary Purpose: Provide assistance with student attendance by enforcing the Texas Compulsory Attendance Law. Investigate student truancy by working with law enforcement, the community, and the campus intervention team in a way that complies with the Texas Education Code so that student attendance will improve. Qualifications: Education High School diploma or GED Bachelor's degree in law enforcement, education or social work; preferred Special Knowledge/Skills: Effective communication and interpersonal skills Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws as it applies to juveniles specifically the Texas Family Code and Texas Education Code Knowledge of court procedures on local, county, state and federal levels Knowledge of successful interview and conferencing techniques for students and/or parents Knowledge of databases, word processing and spreadsheet programs (Microsoft preferred) Sensitivity to troubled youth and families Self-directed and motivated Ability to maintain confidentiality Possess safe driving record and be eligible for liability insurance Spanish speaker, preferred Experience: Experience in law enforcement, education, or social work, preferred MENTAL DEMANDS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals, and other instructional equipment Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting Motion: Frequent walking Lifting: May require regular heavy lifting (45 pounds or more) and positioning of students with physical disabilities, control behavior through physical restraint, assist non ambulatory students, and lift and move adaptive equipment; may work prolonged or irregular hours Environment: Exposure to biological hazards; may require districtwide travel Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress Pay Grade: AE102 Days/Contract Status: 200 Days/ Non-Contract Pay Rate: See Current Salaries on Human Resource Website Attachment(s): * Attendance Officer.pdf
